The Breed Standard

One of the most popular of the Hounds. It makes a first class house pet.
This breed is very energetic and enthusiastic.
. He is of an ideal size (up to 16 inches at the withers), has a very low-maintenance short coat, a placid temperament (aggression or nervousness is quite alien to the breed), a hardy constitution and the breed remains free from serious hereditary defects. They do require above-average exercise however, two long free-running sessions each day being advisable as well as road-walking on a lead, once the dog has reached around nine months of age and relative maturity.

Size - desirable minimum height at withers 13 inches.
Maximum at withers 16in.
