| The Breed Standard |
This member of the Gundog Group, is claimed to be one of the most glamorous of all breeds, having the ability to attract not only those who like a stylish worker, but also those who want a dog capable of being a cheerful companion. The development of the Breed as we know it today, started around the mid 1800’s, and was first shown at the first dog show at Newcastle in 1859. This breed has a fairly long and lean head on a slightly arched neck, well set shoulders and firm, straight bone, a deep chest, and strong muscular hindquarters, all being the hallmark of a handsome breed that must combine elegance, quality and stamina under a silky, easily groomed coat. Height for males, 65-69cm (25.5-27in), bitches, 61-65cm (24-25.5in). |
