HISTORY OF THE "CORNBOW"

| Although Cocker Spaniels have neen kept in the Clarke family household for many years, it was not until the end of the hostilities in Europe that the aspirations of the brothers Jack and Ron, encouraged by their father, from whom they had inherited the love of the breed from, began to take shape. The Cornbow prefix was first registered with The Kennel Club in 1947, the name being taken from a place in the town of Halesowen dating back to medieval times aroung 1297, and mentioned in history books of the town, Centuries later it was to be the birth address of the father of the two siblings, and in more recent times the towns shopping mall would bear the same name. In
1949, the red bitch "Treetops Red Tulip" was purchased from
Mrs Judy de Casembroots famous Treetops Kennels, she proved to be a
wise purchase, for she produced In
the ensuing years many other winners were produced by the confederacy,
Ron
Clarke on his marriage in 1966 took his wife's prefix Roanwood, and
were fortunate to breed Since that period the Cornbow prefix has been owned solely by Jack, and many more winners and champions have been bred in the last decade from seldom more than one litter per year. Cornbow Cockers have won over 150 CAC/CACIB in Europe and other champions in South Africa and the USA. In
